Brian Downey B.Physio (Hons) M.Manip Physio MCSP ACPSM APAM MMPA
Brian migrated to Australia in 1987 and traveled extensively before settling in Melbourne and attending University. He graduated from La Trobe University, Australia in 1997 and commenced his physiotherapy career in private practice in Noosa and Minyama, in Queensland.
In 1999 he returned to Melbourne and worked in Physioworks Health Group (Cranbourne and Pakenham) while undertaking a 2 year part-time study to achieve his post-graduate Masters in Manipulative Therapy from La Trobe University. During this time Brian worked with a local Aussie Rules team and a regional netball side.
Brian returned to Ireland in 2002 to begin a career in professional sport initially working with Connacht Rugby as head physiotherapist then the Cornish Pirates, Ospreys and Worcester Warriors as Director of Sports Medicine. In 2010 Brian commenced work in ABMU as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner in the MCAS service as well physiotherapist to Neath Rugby. Brian was also physiotherapist to the Tongan National side in the Churchill Cup campaign in 2011.
Brian specializes in sports injury diagnosis and management and has a particular interest in groin injuries, spinal pain and rehabilitation.
Brian has established Celtic Physio & Medical to provide an outstanding level of Specialist and general physiotherapy service to the South Wales region.
